ARTIST STATEMENT

The art I create is meant to be minimalistic while remaining open-ended for the viewer. My art is personal and relates to spirituality, self, family, and/or overall wellness.  In my drawings, I am directly bringing the focus to what the piece is about and not concerned with small details in the background, unless it contributes to the intent of the piece. Much of what I’ve explored in my art is related to self: what I keep private; my experiences; my pain; and where my mind is at.  As for my art relating to my family, I enjoy bringing inspiration from the experiences we have together to add more depth to my work.  In most of my work, spirituality is almost always present since my relationship with religion plays a part in everything I pull inspiration from.
